The Brit talked about his fantastic run at the Grande Boucle and matching one of the most impressive records in the sports’ history.

“Being on the start line of the Tour de France was already a great thing, but then to win my first stage there since 2016 left me in shock, even more than the moment when I was told I would go there. Just being part of the Tour peloton again was special, because I never believed that I would be back to this beautiful race that I love so much. I was in complete disbelief but at the same time grateful to the entire Wolfpack for believing in me.”

“Before the stage 4, my last Tour win with the team had been in Fougères, so to raise my hands again in the same city for another victory was incredible. I don’t know, it’s the kind of stuff that made everything even more perfect. You couldn’t have written this thing. I’ve won so many races in my career and that one definitely is one of the best. From that moment on, everything that came – from the other three stage wins to the green jersey in Paris – was a bonus, a dream run that I could have never imagined.”

“I am so grateful to Patrick, to my coach Vasilis, to everyone in the squad, from the staff to the riders, who did a flawless job and rode brilliantly for me, on the flat and in the mountains. It’s hard to imagine how this team is if you’re from the outside, but believe me, this really is a Wolfpack and I am incredibly happy to be part of it and to continue here next season.”

“The moment I sat atop the podium on the Champs-Élysées will long live in memory, just as the whole three weeks spent with this amazing squad around France. The guys were a big part of that success and together we went through a lot of emotions and forged so many beautiful memories. It was also extra special to have my family at my side in Paris, it felt great to share with them all those beautiful moments.”
