Tour de France: Another hard stage out of the way

Morzine, the site of the first ever Quick-Step Alpha Vinyl Tour de France victory, was the place from where the second week of the race resumed Tuesday afternoon with a short but intense stage to Megève, which hosted just its second finish after the one of 2016.

Following the trend of the first stages, the battle for the breakaway was again fast and furious, the riders keen on being at the front on this stage that favoured the escapees, who knew the GC favourites would take it easy ahead of the back-to-back summit finishes of Col du Granon and Alpe d’Huez. After 50 kilometers, a large group established a comfortable advantage that saw them fight for the win on the last ascent, where Magnus Cort (EF Education-EasyPost) prevailed.

Andrea Bagioli and Mattia Cattaneo ended the day as the best-placed Quick-Step Alpha Vinyl riders, while Fabio Jakobsen made it safely to the finish in the gruppetto, with his other teammates.
